Florent Pagny: The Voice Return, Cancer Battle & Potential Farewell
Florent Pagny returned to his iconic red chair on Saturday, February 28th, for the fifteenth season of The Voice, marking a significant moment in his personal and professional life. The singer, who stepped away from the show three years ago to battle cancer, will be joined by coaches Lara Fabian, Amel Bent, and Tayc, with Nikos Aliagas once again hosting the program.
Pagny, a six-time winning coach on the show, explained his decision to return to Le Parisien, stating, “It’s a game in which I feel comfortable, I’m relaxed, I have fun. I was asked, and I said, ‘I have the tour, a new album, but I can still do it if we organize things well.’ And that’s what happened.”
Throughout his illness, Pagny publicly maintained a positive outlook, continuing to create and perform. He acknowledged the challenges, noting, “I was taking products that could mess me up, but I wasn’t touring at that time. On set, I was in fine shape. I looked a little strange, admittedly, but I managed it. I told myself, ‘I can still rock the glasses-tortoise ninja scarf look, I’m not going to stop.’ And that sent a message: just because you’re sick doesn’t signify you can’t do anything.”
Recent medical examinations have brought further relief, with Pagny reporting excellent results. “I had tests yesterday, they were great. The day before, you always say to yourself, ‘Damn, I hope everything is okay.’”
Pagny initially considered this season to be his last, but ultimately agreed to return for a previous season as well. He reflected on the longevity of the program, telling RTL, “A program that lasts 15 years is highly rare on television, with a concept like this.”
Lara Fabian is also currently in the spotlight, preparing to represent Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Mademoiselle Zhivago,” as reported by ESCToday.com.
As Pagny contemplates his future with The Voice, he leaves behind a legacy of resilience and inspiration. He stated, “When you are a good warrior, you inspire. We all have moments where we have to go into battle.”
