France Odeon Film Festival Kicks Off with Premieres and Homages
Florence, November 1st – The France Odeon film festival commenced today at Cinema La Compagnia with a press conference featuring Laure Calamy and Fabien Gorgeart, celebrating the world premiere of their new film, C’est quoi l’amour?.
The festival continued with the Italian premiere of Sylvain Chomet’s animated film,Marcel et Monsieur Pagnol,a tribute to the writer and filmmaker marcel Pagnol on the 130th anniversary of his birth. The screening, presented in collaboration with Lucca Comics & Games 2025, was accompanied by a live appearance from composer Stefano Bollani, whose refined soundtrack features in the film.Film critic Marco Luceri introduced the piece, followed by a Q&A session with bollani and the film’s crew.
This afternoon, France Odeon showcased L’inconnu de la Grande Arche by Stéphane Demoustier, an Italian preview inspired by the life of Danish architect Otto Von Spreckelsen, designer of the Grande Arche de la Défense. The screening was followed by a discussion with renowned architects Massimiliano Fuksas and Valerio Barberis.
Later this evening, the highly anticipated C’est quoi l’amour? will have its world premiere, with director Fabien Gorgeart and actress Laure calamy in attendance. The film is described as an unconventional comedy exploring themes of bureaucracy, faith, and relationships.
The festival will conclude with a screening of Richard Linklater’s Nouvelle Vague,which premiered at cannes. The film is a homage to Jean-Luc Godard’s À bout de souffle and the French new Wave movement, blending documentary and fiction to explore the art of filmmaking.
