The 9th annual Star City Film & Theater Festival opened Tuesday, February 12th, at The Fleur Cinema in Des Moines, Iowa, and continues through Saturday, February 14th. The festival showcases a range of cinematic and theatrical works.
This year’s festival marks the first without its longtime producer for the Des Moines’ 48 Hour Film Project, a related but separate event, according to reporting from Iowa Public Radio. The change in leadership for the 48 Hour Film Project does not appear to directly impact the Star City Film & Theater Festival, but represents a shift in the local film community.
The Fleur Cinema & Cafe, located at 4545 Fleur Drive, is hosting the festival. Little Village Magazine reports that the cinema is currently featuring a variety of films, including a science fiction offering involving an alien invasion and a new film starring Ethan Hawke.
