Fiorentina Parts Ways wiht Coach stefano Pioli After Winless Start
Florence, Italy – Fiorentina has terminated the contract of head coach Stefano Pioli following a string of disappointing results, the club confirmed today. The decision comes after the team’s failure to secure a win in its first ten Serie A matches of the season.
Pioli, appointed at the beginning of the season, leaves Fiorentina with a record of four draws and six defeats, leaving the club in 19th place in the Serie A standings. The move signals a desperate attempt by Fiorentina’s management to reverse the team’s fortunes and climb out of the relegation zone.
The dismissal follows reported friction between Pioli and striker Edin dzeko regarding tactical approach. Dzeko, who transferred from Fenerbahce earlier this season, recently stated, “I don’t want to say too much because if I say more, the coach will get angry. In my opinion, when we play with two strikers, we become closer to each other and important for the team. When you have difficulties in the match, we can be a reference point even in long balls. But the decision is up to the coach. We must do our best on the field.”
Pioli responded to Dzeko’s comments, stating, “We are trying to find a balance. At the moment we cannot afford more than two attackers. This situation is about the balance we are in. Of course, we can put another spare striker on the field in the future, but this is not the time. Dzeko is a strong player, he knows where my office is. He needs to be ready because the hierarchy within the team changes according to performances and results.”
The club has not yet announced a replacement for Pioli. The search for a new manager will begin immediately, with Fiorentina hoping to quickly stabilize the team and begin its ascent in the serie A table.
