North Melbourne’s Finnbar Maley Traded to Adelaide Crows
Adelaide, Australia – North Melbourne forward Finnbar Maley is heading to the Adelaide Crows in a deadline-day trade, the clubs confirmed today, October 23, 2025. The 22-year-old was exchanged along with pick No.64 for pick No.57 and a fourth-round selection in the 2026 AFL Draft.
The move sees Maley, a promising key forward, join a Crows outfit looking to bolster its attacking options. For North Melbourne, the trade allows them to acquire additional draft capital as they continue to rebuild. Maley’s departure marks a shift in the Roos’ forward line and provides the Crows with a developing tall target, possibly impacting both teams’ strategies in the upcoming season.
Maley arrived at North Melbourne via pick No.2 in the 2023 Rookie Draft and quickly made an impact, playing seven games in the 2025 season and kicking four goals, including a memorable goal with his first kick in the AFL.
“We wish Finnbar all the best as he embarks on the next phase of his career,” north Melbourne’s footy boss Todd Viney said. “Finnbar has made a good impact at the club over the past couple of years, especially with his enthusiasm and commitment to developing his game.”
Adelaide list boss Justin Reid expressed the Crows’ excitement about securing Maley’s services. “With Finnbar we were really pleased to get a deal across the line, given what we’ve seen from him,” Reid stated. “With plenty of height and a strong set of hands, he’ll be a valuable addition to our squad. We’re excited to see what Finnbar can achieve at our club.”
Maley is the son of former Adelaide 36ers and NBL legend Paul Maley.
