Finn Balor revives Demon persona to assault Gunther on SmackDown
Finn Balor revived his “Demon” persona on the October 30, 2026, episode of SmackDown to assault Gunther, disrupting a segment featuring Danhausen and altering plans ahead of the upcoming Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Balor’s intervention came as Gunther prepared to choke out Danhausen on the Halloween-themed show.
Danhausen spent the evening teasing a secret experiment for the audience. Before the reveal occurred, Gunther entered the ring and attacked Danhausen. Gunther powerbombed Danhausen through a table, threw pumpkins at a group of miniature performers known as Minihausens, and powerbombed one mini-performer onto another.
Gunther then positioned another table against the turnbuckles and locked Danhausen in a sleeper hold. Danhausen cursed Gunther just before the arena lights went out and a heartbeat played over the venue sound system. Balor then arose from a gurney wearing the signature Demon war paint, marking his first time using the persona since WrestleMania 42 earlier in the year.

The Demon Confronts The Ring General
Gunther attempted to strike Balor with his championship belt, but The Demon absorbed the blow without visible reaction. Balor executed a Sling Blade and a running dropkick that sent Gunther crashing through the table in the corner, as detailed. Balor then retrieved a ladder, knocked Gunther onto the outside announce table, and climbed to the top to deliver a Coup de Grace.
A match between Gunther and Balor had been planned at least at one point, with both wrestlers featured on promotional materials for Crown Jewel in Riyadh.

Balor Brings Back The Demon for Gunther Rivalry
Balor previously competed as The Demon at WrestleMania 42, where he defeated Dominik Mysterio in a street fight. The sudden reintroduction of the painted persona follows an ongoing rivalry between Balor and Gunther. While the November 7 PLE has not officially confirmed the singles match on air following the SmackDown broadcast, the physical escalation establishes the narrative foundation for the upcoming card.
