Like Mr. Iguana’s popular puppet, La Yesca, WWE star Finn Balor surprised fans with his own puppet, named Demonito, at AAA TripleMania XXXIII. Balor recently explained how it came to be on the “What Do You Wanna Talk About” podcast.
“I found out I was wrestling Iguana in AAA. It had been a long time since I’d faced someone I wasn’t familiar with,” Balor saeid.“When you work on the independent circuit or in Japan, you research your opponents and come up with ideas. But in WWE, you see everyone all the time and know what they do. This was the first time I didn’t know someone I was going to wrestle. So, I decided to do some research like I used to. I looked on YouTube at 4:20 in the afternoon, typed in ‘Mr. Iguana,’ and the first match that came up was Mr. Iguana against Santino [Marella]. Cobra versus iguana. I thought, ‘Wow, I need something like that.’”
balor created a puppet based on his demon persona, with black and red face paint and monster-like teeth. He also added long black, red, and white yarn strands to the puppet’s head.
In its debut, Demonito “ate” La Yesca, then celebrated as Balor hit Mr. Iguana with a DDT.However, nino Hamburguesa distracted Balor and the puppet with a hamburger, allowing Mr. Iguana to return with a dropkick. Despite this, Balor won the mixed tag match with his Judgment Day teammates JD McDonagh and Raquel Rodriguez.
