Ferrari’s Electric Future: ‘Elettrica’ Unveiled with €500,000 Price Tag

Maranello, Italy – Ferrari has officially entered the electric vehicle (EV) market with the debut of the ‘Elettrica,’ a four-seater grand tourer expected to retail for approximately half a million euros. The declaration, made by Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna at the company’s Maranello factory, signals a cautious yet intentional step towards electrification.

A Complement, Not a Replacement
Vigna emphasized that the Elettrica is intended as an addition to Ferrari’s existing lineup, rather than a complete transition to electric power. “The elettrica is an addition to the range, and not a transition to electric cars,” he stated, acknowledging the continued demand for the brand’s iconic combustion engine vehicles. Currently, nearly half of all Ferraris sold incorporate hybrid technology, but a full shift to all-electric models remains a future consideration.
revised EV Targets and Market Realities
Ferrari initially aimed for fully electric vehicles to comprise 40% of its total sales by 2030. However, the company has now revised this target to around 20%. This adjustment reflects a broader trend within the luxury automotive sector, where demand for EVs has proven less robust than initially anticipated. Several other high-end manufacturers have already scaled back their electric vehicle initiatives in response to market conditions.
Strong Financial Outlook Despite Stock Dip
Alongside the Elettrica announcement, Ferrari revealed an optimistic outlook for its financial performance this year. The company has increased its projected turnover from €7 billion to €7.1 billion. Adjusted profit, before interest and taxes, is now estimated to be €40 million higher than previously forecast.
Despite the positive financial news, Ferrari shares experienced a critically important decline on the Milan stock exchange, dropping over 15% around 1:30 PM local time today. The reasons for this market reaction are currently under analysis, but likely reflect investor concerns regarding the slower-than-expected pace of Ferrari’s full electrification.
Elettrica Specifications
While full technical details are still forthcoming, Ferrari has confirmed the Elettrica will offer a driving range of approximately 530 kilometers (329 miles) on a single charge. The four-seater configuration positions the Elettrica as a grand tourer designed for both performance and comfort.
