Feadship Yacht Solace Offers Luxury Expeditions to Remote Waters | Robb Report
A Feadship yacht, Solace, is now offering weeklong charters as part of a multiyear expedition to some of the world’s most remote locations, with its first voyage featuring an unprecedented opportunity for guests to swim alongside sperm whales off the coast of Dominica.
The 187-foot vessel, originally launched in 2005 as Twizzle, recently underwent an extensive refit at the Pendennis shipyard between 2024 and 2025, according to Christie Yachts, which is listing the yacht for sale. The refit included a hull extension from 55 to 57 meters and the addition of a new sauna. The yacht’s owner intends to utilize the vessel for scientific discovery, dedicating a stateroom to researchers and guides during voyages.
During the initial expedition off Dominica, guests were able to swim within 20 feet of sperm whales, an experience typically requiring a three-year wait for permits, according to Ben Lyons, C.E.O. Of EYOS Expeditions, which is arranging the charters. “Some swam right past us, another swam underneath me,” Lyons said. “We watched a couple [of whales] spinning around underwater, interacting with each other. By the end, the guests were so excited… they were high-fiving each other.” A scientist studying sperm-whale communication was onboard and became a popular guest, fielding questions from passengers after the swim.
Solace is equipped for extended voyages, boasting a 5,400 nautical mile range and forward sonar. Captain Teh Chung stated the yacht, with its diesel tenders, is designed to operate autonomously for up to a month. The yacht’s capabilities will allow access to locations such as the Canadian Arctic’s Northwest Passage and the Bismarck Archipelago in Papua New Guinea.
The refit also focused on luxury and comfort. Vickers Studio redesigned the interior, blending midcentury furniture with contemporary pieces from Liaigre and Holly Hunt. A reconfigured lazarette now houses a six-person sauna with glass walls overlooking the swim platform and a cold-plunge pool has been added. A forward Jacuzzi, an enclosable bridge deck, a 20-foot inflatable dock, onboard massage therapists, and a 40-foot cruiser designed by Espen Øino further enhance the onboard experience.
“The owner does not want a yacht that’s just lollygagging around the Caribbean or Mediterranean, he wants a yacht with a purpose,” Lyons said. The yacht is currently listed for sale for €39,495,000 by Christie Yachts.
