FC Cincinnati Stun Montreal in 4-3 MLS Thriller | 2026 Season

March 23, 2026 Lucas Fernandez – World Editor World

CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over CF Montréal Sunday at TQL Stadium, fueled by late goals from Tom Barlow and Kévin Denkey. The win snapped a three-game league losing streak for FCC and marked the club’s first victory when trailing and playing with a man down, according to team officials.

Montréal took the lead three separate times during the match, only to be met with equalizing goals from Cincinnati. The decisive blow came in the fourth minute of stoppage time when Denkey found the back of the net, completing the comeback for the Orange and Blue.

The victory was particularly significant for Cincinnati, coming after a recent 6-1 defeat against the New England Revolution and a last-second loss to Tigres UANL in the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16. Head coach Pat Noonan emphasized the importance of the win’s emotional impact on the team. “It’s not about how pretty it looks; sometimes you just need the feeling of a win,” Noonan said after the match.

Cincinnati’s path to victory was complicated by a 60th-minute red card issued to Miles Robinson, forcing the team to play a man down for the remainder of the contest. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Cincinnati continued to press, ultimately capitalizing on their opportunities in the closing minutes.

Kévin Denkey, a club-record signing for FC Cincinnati, proved to be the hero of the day, scoring the game-winning goal. Barlow’s equalizer in the 80th minute set the stage for Denkey’s late heroics.

With the win, FC Cincinnati improves to 2-3-0 on the season, accumulating 6 points in the MLS standings. Montréal, meanwhile, falls to 1-4-0 with 3 points.

FC Cincinnati will return to action on Saturday, April 4, with an away match against Red Bull New York at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The team will then host Chicago Fire FC at TQL Stadium on Saturday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. ET.
