Faustão: New Liver and Kidney Transplant After Two Months Hospitalized

Faustão‘s Health Update: Overcoming Kidney Rejection After Transplant

Brazilian television presenter Fausto Silva, widely known as Faustão, has faced a series of post-transplant complications, including a recent episode of organ rejection. The 73-year-old underwent a kidney transplant at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in São Paulo on February 24, 2024, after years of battling chronic kidney disease.

Following the surgery,Faustão required an embolization procedure to address lymphatic issues hindering his recovery, according to reports. Afterward, his wife, Luciana Cardoso, announced on April 5th that the rejection had been successfully managed through a more potent treatment regimen. The initial
embolization procedure
aimed to resolve lymphatic complications impacting his post-operative progress. Prior to the transplant, Faustão had been publicly managing his
chronic kidney disease
for several years.

Organ rejection is a common risk following transplantation, requiring vigilant monitoring and often, intensified immunosuppressive therapy. The Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein has not released specific details regarding the “more powerful treatment” utilized, citing patient privacy. Cardoso’s announcement, however, offered reassurance that Faustão is responding positively to the adjusted medical intervention.
