Colorado Eyes Promising 2026 Recruits

Two highly-regarded prospects to announce their college choices soon

The University of Colorado is actively pursuing top talent for its 2026 recruiting class, with two significant announcements expected soon from five-star athlete **Lamar Brown** and highly-ranked wide receiver **Jordan Clay**. Both players are considering offers from multiple prominent programs.

Top Athlete Hints at College Pick

**Lamar Brown**, a versatile player from Erwinville, Louisiana, has hinted at his college decision with a recent post on X, stating “Striving for that GOLD JACKET!!” He is rated as the No. 1 athlete in the 2026 class by On3 Industry Rankings.

While Colorado doesn’t yet have a defensive lineman committed for 2026, **Brown** could fill that gap, excelling on both sides of the ball, similar to former Buffaloes standout **Travis Hunter**. Fan speculation suggests **Brown’s** tweet may be a reference to the three Pro Football Hall of Fame members currently coaching at Colorado.

While Colorado fans are hopeful, **Brown** is expected to choose between Texas A&M and LSU. He also has Florida State and Miami in his top four. According to a recent NCAA report, defensive line positions are seeing increased recruiting attention, with offers up 15% in the last year (NCAA.org).

According to **Brown**, his decision hinges on playing defensive line in college: “It really came down to me deciding to play defensive line in college… A lot of schools wanted to play offensive line, but those four schools were the ones recruiting me the hardest as a defensive lineman.”

Wide Receiver Decision Coming Soon

Another significant target for Colorado, wide receiver **Jordan Clay**, will announce his commitment on Friday. He is considering offers from the Buffaloes, Baylor, and Oklahoma. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound prospect visited Boulder on June 6.

**Clay**, from San Antonio, Texas, is ranked as the No. 94 recruit nationally and the No. 13 wide receiver in the 2026 class by On3 Industry Rankings. Currently, the Buffaloes don’t have a wide receiver committed for 2026, but several offered players remain uncommitted.
