Birmingham Band to Honour Mechanical Bull
Bostin’ Brass Set for “Fitting Tribute”
The beloved mechanical bull, affectionately known as Ozzy, will have its procession led by the local Birmingham ensemble, Bostin’ Brass. The band expressed a mix of nerves and profound honour at being chosen for this significant role.
A Familiar Venue for the Band
This is not the first time Bostin’ Brass has played for Ozzy. They previously performed at New Street Station during the unveiling of the mechanical bull, which was created for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. It was then that **Sharon Osbourne** officially introduced Ozzy to his new home.
A City’s Affection for Ozzy
Band leader **Aaron Diaz** acknowledged the considerable pressure of the occasion, noting, “It’s certainly high pressure. You do feel a weight of responsibility.”
He further commented on the city’s palpable sentiment towards the mechanical bull, stating, “In the last couple of days it’s been amazing the sentiment the city feels towards Ozzy, the pride – he’s one of Birmingham’s own.”
Anticipation for the Ceremony
Diaz shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, adding, “We’re really going to enjoy playing a fitting tribute to him and being part of the crowd of thousands that’s going to turn out on the day.”
The procession is expected to draw large crowds, reflecting the mechanical bull’s status as a symbol of civic pride, much like how the Tour de France Grand Départ in Bilbao in 2023 drew an estimated 2.5 million spectators over its opening weekend, demonstrating the public’s enthusiasm for major events.
