Family of 22-Year-Old Fatally Shot by Pennsylvania Police Say He Was at Wrong House

August 25, 2026 Emma Walker – News Editor News

On a weekend in 2026, 22-year-old Glenn Pysher was fatally shot by police in Upper Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, after reportedly arriving at the wrong residence. Pysher, who was unarmed, was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the officer’s use of lethal force.

The Sequence of Events in Upper Pottsgrove

The incident began late Saturday night as Pysher was returning from a friend’s birthday celebration. According to his mother, Erin Pysher, the 22-year-old had been socializing at a local bar before the group relocated to a private residence. Pysher opted to walk to the location, but mistakenly arrived at the wrong property.

Surveillance footage from the backyard of the home captured the encounter. Erin Pysher stated that her son was knocking on the door, attempting to gain entry under the impression he was at his friend’s house. The residents inside, startled by the presence of a stranger, contacted 911 at 12:32 a.m. By 12:35 a.m., according to his mother’s account, Pysher had been shot.

Pysher was unarmed at the time of the shooting, carrying only a book bag and a cell phone, his family reported. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office has assumed control of the investigation. The specific actions taken by the responding officer in those minutes remain the focal point of the ongoing probe.

Community Impact and Family Response

Glenn Pysher was a student-athlete who had recently transferred to Saint Elizabeth University in New Jersey, where he was preparing to join the baseball team. His family describes him as a “lovable goofball” who maintained a close, affectionate relationship with his parents.

The Role of Surveillance and Evidence Preservation

The existence of backyard surveillance footage is a critical component of the current investigation.

However, public access to such evidence is typically restricted until investigators complete their review.

Institutional Oversight in Pennsylvania

As the investigation continues, the community and the Pysher family await the findings of the District Attorney.

The loss of a young student-athlete has left a community searching for answers, underscoring the necessity for a thorough, transparent, and timely investigation into the events of that night.
