Fairfax: Alternatives to DMV Amidst Pennino Closure
The Pennino Building, a Fairfax County Human Services Center located at 12011 Government Center Parkway, is closed until further notice due to repairs stemming from an equipment failure and subsequent flooding, officials announced Friday. The closure impacts all walk-in services at the facility.
Fairfax County officials are directing residents to alternative locations and online resources to continue accessing necessary health and human services. The Department of Family Services, Neighborhood & Community Services, and the Community Services Board are all available to provide assistance.
According to a county statement, there will be no interruption of services despite the building’s closure. Residents are explicitly advised not to attempt to visit the Pennino Building Human Services Center during the repair period.
The cause of the equipment failure initially reported on Wednesday led to flooding within the building, prompting the immediate closure and cancellation of all scheduled appointments and walk-in services, according to DC News Now.
Individuals seeking assistance can contact Fairfax County’s Health and Human Services system at 703-FAIRFAX (324-7329) between 8 a.m. And 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, for questions and further information. Telemundo 44 Washington reported on options for residents to continue accessing services despite the temporary closure of the Pennino Building.
The duration of the closure remains undetermined as repairs are assessed and carried out. The county has not yet announced a timeline for the Pennino Building’s reopening.
