Rugby Icon Fabien Pelous to Visit Caunes-Minervois Abbey This Thursday
Caunes-Minervois, France – November 5, 2025 – Rugby legend Fabien Pelous, the most capped player in French rugby history, will appear at the Caunes-Minervois Abbey this Thursday, November 6th, at 6:00 PM. The visit coincides wiht the ongoing “Gueules du Rugby” exhibition currently hosted at the historic abbey.
The exhibition, which launched October 1st and runs through December 30th, celebrates the spirit of rugby through photographic art. Pelous’s appearance is a meaningful event for the town and surrounding region, blending the worlds of sport, heritage, and southern French culture.The project originated with Roch Lorente and Jean-Pierre Pagès, the founders of the “Gueules du Rugby” initiative, who laid the groundwork for the exhibition.
Caunes-Minervois Mayor Ludovic Barlaud and Culture Deputy Djamel Baghdadi, both avid rugby fans, expressed their enthusiasm for welcoming such a prominent figure to the abbey. “He’s a great player,” stated Barlaud. “He responded very kindly to the invitation. We hope that this meeting will put a sparkle in the eyes of all rugby lovers.”
