Formula 1 Introduces new Scoring System for Sprint Qualifying

Formula 1 has updated its scoring system for sprint Qualifying events, with a revised points allocation now in effect.The changes aim to provide a more nuanced reward for performance across different lengths of Sprint races.

The updated regulations specify point distributions based on the number of laps completed in a Sprint Qualifying session:

  • For Sprint Qualifying events consisting of 3 to 10 laps, points are awarded according to Column 1.
  • For events between 11 and 21 laps, points are allocated as per Column 2.
  • Sprint qualifying sessions running from 22 up to 32 laps will follow the points structure in Column 3.
  • For any Sprint Qualifying event with 33 laps or more, the standard, common scoring system applies.
