Exynos 2700 Reportedly Beats Snapdragon in Samsung Internal Tests

August 23, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Samsung is developing its next-generation Exynos 2700 flagship processor. Internal testing indicates the silicon may outperform competing hardware from Qualcomm in specific thermal and efficiency metrics, according to reports from Mobilissimo.ro and Android Authority. The processor is slated to power baseline models in the upcoming Galaxy S27 series.

Samsung Eyes Exynos 2700 Comeback

Retaining the Global Dual-Chip Strategy

Samsung intends to maintain its dual-chip strategy for the upcoming Galaxy S27 generation, as reported by Android Authority. The Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, and the newly anticipated Galaxy S27 Pro will largely utilize the Exynos 2700 in global markets. Meanwhile, the United States, China, and a select group of other regions will receive variants powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.

This regional distribution continues a long-running hardware division for Samsung’s flagship line. Historically, the Exynos and Snapdragon variants have exhibited differences in app and gaming performance, as well as network efficiency, while commanding identical retail prices.

Cortex C1 Architecture and the 2nm SF2P Node

Technical reports place the Exynos 2700 as a successor to the previous generation’s architecture. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 utilizes Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU cores manufactured on TSMC’s 3nm N3P node, while the Exynos line has historically relied on Arm Cortex cores.

The Exynos 2700 is expected to incorporate Arm’s upcoming Cortex C1 successor architecture, potentially reaching clock speeds up to 5GHz, based on Android Authority’s analysis of industry rumors. Yet, performance remains tied to Samsung Foundry’s manufacturing yields. The chip relies on Samsung’s second-generation 2nm SF2P Gate-All-Around node. While this node reportedly improves yields compared to first-generation production, it remains below the 70% threshold typically targeted for mass production. On paper, the SF2P process claims up to a 12% performance increase or a 25% reduction in power consumption compared to the SF2 node, alongside an 8% reduction in die area.

Thermal Advantages at 2.5-Watt Power Draw

Internal Samsung evaluations cited by Mobilissimo.ro indicate that the Exynos 2700 shows competitive advantages over Snapdragon silicon specifically at a 2.5-watt power draw threshold. In mobile processors, performance efficiency at lower wattage directly impacts sustained thermal performance, battery longevity during everyday tasks, and how quickly a device throttles under thermal load.
