Exeter Races: EBF Junior National Hunt Hurdle – Tips & Racecards

March 22, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Callum Pritchard is scheduled to ride Dakota Start in the Guildhall Exeter, Shop, Eat, Play EBF Junior ‘National Hunt’ Hurdle at Exeter Racecourse on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The race, a Class 4 hurdle for four-year-olds, is set to run at 4:12 PM and features nine runners competing over a distance of two miles and 161 yards on quality turf.

Dakota Start, trained by P Hobbs & J White, carries a weight of 11-0 and has an official rating of 100. The horse recently showed promise with a third-place finish at Hereford, a performance subsequently validated by the runner-up’s subsequent wins. However, a steering issue at Taunton in its last outing disrupted its progress.

James Bowen will be aboard Doha Rally, a Doha Dream gelding, representing trainer W Greatrex. The horse is a half-brother to several winners, including French hurdler Robin Hill and hurdler Champoleon, suggesting a strong pedigree. Connections anticipate a competitive debut.

Bryan Carver is listed to ride Don’t Rein Me In, a maiden who has shown modest form, finishing fourth in a bumper at Hereford. Trainer C Honour will be looking for improvement as the horse transitions to hurdles.

Longmoor, a newcomer from trainer J Tizzard, will be ridden by Freddie Gingell. The gelding is by Sans Frontieres, and his dam was a maiden hurdler.

Ciaran Gethings is set to ride Mwabani, trained by Mrs J Williams, who has demonstrated promising form with two runner-up finishes. The horse’s debut form has been reinforced by the subsequent success of both the winner and the third-place finisher. The trainer believes the horse may benefit from a longer distance.

The race offers a total prize fund of £10,000, with £5,446 awarded to the winner, £2,509 to the second-place finisher, and £1,254 to the third.

A similar race, the South West Rail Solutions EBF Junior “National Hunt” Hurdle, was held at Exeter on November 23, 2025, with Te Tenter Le Tout, ridden by Harry Cobden and trained by Chester Williams, securing the win. Mwabani, ridden by Ciaran Gethings and trained by Jane Williams, finished second in that race.
