Jay Chou’s “Carnival” Tour Set to Conclude in Shanghai

After captivating global audiences, the “Carnival” world tour by Jay Chou is nearing its grand finale. Fans are preparing for the last Shanghai shows, marking the end of an era in the singer’s illustrious career. The tour has traversed continents, leaving a trail of unforgettable performances.

Shanghai Finale Confirmed

Reports circulating on social media indicated that the Shanghai Stadium would host the final performances. The final stop for Jay Chou’s “Carnival” tour will be in Shanghai. The Shanghai dates are scheduled for October 9th through the 11th. The tour began in Shanghai on October 17, 2019.

Jay Chou’s concert is confirmed to end in October this year.

The tour was interrupted by the pandemic. It resumed in December 2022, starting in Singapore. The tour has since visited various cities including Taipei, Singapore, Malaysia, and several locations in Europe, among others. It also became the first concert to be held at the Taipei Dome.

Reflections on the Tour’s Journey

In Taipei last year, Jay Chou mentioned considering other venues. He considered locations like Kaohsiung, campuses, and street concerts. He explained, I want to say that if the little egg (referring to the Taipei Dome) is not allowed to sing, then I don’t sing, because I am willful and entangled, so I am in a tangled round. The audience reacted with laughter.

The online rumor is that Jay Chou submitted an approval report in Shanghai in October.

Following the Shanghai shows, Jay Chou is scheduled to perform at Kai Tak, Hong Kong, in June. He will also perform in Xiamen in July, and Jinan and Wuhan in September. These dates suggest that a return to Taiwan is unlikely. Live music continues to thrive, with global concert revenue reaching $27.2 billion in 2023 (Statista).

Looking Ahead

Jay Chou has hinted at new music. He has expressed his intention to release a new album between August and September. He said, Although I can’t sing it out at the moment, I will sort out what I sang before and do not waste time. I will still release a movie this year. New works are definitely anticipated for this year.
