MANCHESTER, England – everton manager Sean Dyche ⁣has dismissed the incident involving Idrissa Gueye and teammate Michael Keane as a momentary ‌lapse in judgment, stating the midfielder ‌has apologized and the⁢ matter is closed.‌ Gueye was shown a red⁤ card during Everton’s 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford following a physical altercation with Keane in the first half.

“I’m disappointed we got the sending off. But ‍we’ve all‍ been footballers, we get⁣ angry with our teammates. He’s apologised for the sending off,he’s praised⁢ the players‍ and thanked them for it and apologised,” Dyche said ⁢after the match. He ‌added, “There’s no‌ problem, we move on.”

Gueye, 36, also issued a public apology via Instagram, stating, “I wont to apologise first to my teammate Michael Keane. ⁢I want to take full duty for my action. I also apologise to my teammates, the staff, the fans and the club.Emotions can run high but nothing justifies such behavior.”

Despite playing with 10 men⁤ for ‌much of ⁤the game, Everton secured a historic win – Dyche’s first victory at Old Trafford in ‍18 attempts. The result marked ⁤a significant upset, particularly given‍ Manchester United’s aspirations to climb ⁢the Premier⁢ League table.

“If you’d have said to me when we went went to 10⁣ men we were going to get a result, still at 0-0, I’d have said that would be‌ really tough,” Dyche commented. “That was a brilliant, brilliant performance from the players. Resilience, toughness, commitments, all the words you want ⁤as a manager ⁣and a great goal as well.”

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim expressed ⁣frustration with his team’s performance, noting‌ a lack of intensity and fight. He⁢ also offered a contrasting view on the Gueye‍ incident, stating, “I don’t agree with that red card. We can fight with teammates. I know⁤ it’s violent conduct because the referee‌ explained but I don’t agree. I hope my players, when they lose the ball, they fight each other ‍– thought they cannot get sent off! But that is a good feeling, not a bad feeling.”

The defeat leaves Manchester united in 10th ‌place in ‌the‍ Premier League, missing ⁤an chance to move into the top five. Amorim acknowledged the team’s current ⁤shortcomings, stating, “I know which point ⁤we are at…we are not even near the⁤ point⁣ to fight for the best positions in the league. We have a lot to do.”
