According to a U.S. government document released this week, these directives impose “extraterritorial reach” and “onerous supply chain due diligence obligations” that disadvantage American companies competing within the European market.

Andrew Puzder, the U.S. ambassador to the EU, took to social media on Friday to demand that Brussels “align” these environmental and human rights standards with the existing U.S.-EU trade agreement.
