EU prepares for potential hybrid attack according to Politico
Ambassadors from all European Union member states have held closed-door discussions in a limited format without mobile phones or staff to prepare for a potential major hybrid attack resulting in multiple fatalities according to Politico.
EU Prepares for Nightmare Scenarios
The confidential talks come as five EU diplomats and officials report that such a scenario appears increasingly likely. While discussions regarding hybrid attacks have continued for years, preparations for a potential nightmare scenario have only recently begun across the European Union.
Diplomats point directly to the suspected Russian drone attack in Leipzig in August as a turning point that brought the risk into sharper focus. Vi måste vara förberedda på att något allvarligt kan inträffa. Tyvärr visade Leipzig att en mycket allvarlig incident med flera dödsoffer inte kan uteslutas,
stated a high-ranking EU diplomat according to Omni.

German Intelligence Warnings
The heightened state of readiness aligns with warnings from Martin Jäger, head of Germany’s foreign intelligence agency BND, who warned during a hearing in the German Bundestag that the country risks being drawn into a violent conflict with Russia reported Politico. Jäger noted that Germany has become a primary target because it serves as a significant obstacle to Russian power in Europe and stands as one of Ukraine’s largest donors.
While the German intelligence chief sees no indication of an impending large-scale Russian attack against a NATO nation, he warned that Moscow could carry out lower-intensity military activities, further hybrid attacks similar to the incident in Leipzig, and potential operations involving små gröna män
in Europe such as those seen during the 2014 occupation of Crimea.
