győr, Hungary – ETO FC advanced in the Hungarian Cup with a dominant 9-0 victory over Pilisi LK on Saturday, delivering a resounding performance marked by a flurry of goals in the first half. The win showcased ETO’s significant advantage in quality while Pilisi LK, a historic club from Pest county, fought with determination despite the lopsided scoreline.
Nils Abrahamsson opened the scoring in the 5th minute, followed quickly by Nfansu Njie’s goal in the 9th. Oleksandr Piscsur than added two goals in quick succession, finding the net in the 23rd and 29th minutes. njie scored again in the 37th minute, and Marcell Huszár converted a penalty in added time of the first half, bringing the score to 6-0.
The second half saw Jovan Zivkovic score twice (50th and 57th minutes), including a long-range free kick lauded as the match’s best goal, and Bálint Boldor completed the scoring in the 67th minute.
pilisi LK, founded in 1917, has a history in the Hungarian cup competitions, reaching the Szabadföld Cup final in 1964 and winning the Amateur Cup in 2014.
“I asked the players to take the match seriously even though they were aware of the expected difference in quality,” said ETO manager balázs Barber. “The early goals helped,the match was quickly decided,I’m glad that we advanced with the necessary victory.”
Pilisi LK manager János Miklósvári expressed pride in his team’s effort. “We tried to play our usual game, but the top-ranked opponent caused a lot of difficulties. With all this, I’m proud of the team, we’ve been put on the football map, and we’d like to thank our large number of fans for cheering us on and at home.”
Goalkeeper Dániel Paulovicz sustained an injury during the match but was able to continue after treatment. Balázs Megyeri also saw action in goal for ETO, returning to the pitch after a lengthy absence.
