Essse Caffè Launches Sofia: New Compostable Coffee Pod Machine
Bologna, Italy – Essse Caffè has launched Sofia, a new espresso machine designed for home, office, and small commercial use, alongside a new line of compostable paper coffee pods. The system aims to bring the quality of the Bolognese roasting company’s coffee to a wider range of settings, according to a company statement released Tuesday.
Sofia utilizes 7-gram coffee pods made from compostable paper filters, and is compatible with four distinct aromatic profiles: Classico, Delicato, Intenso, and Decaffeinato. Essse Caffè emphasizes the machine’s compact and intuitive design, featuring an automatic pod ejection system and electronic controls. A patented dispensing spout is designed to enhance the body and consistency of the espresso.
The launch of Sofia reflects Essse Caffè’s commitment to its core principles of “Scienza, Sapienza e Specializzazione” – Science, Wisdom, and Specialization – blending traditional roasting techniques with technological research and evolving consumer preferences, the company stated.
The Classico blend combines Arabica and Robusta beans for a rich, full-bodied flavor with notes of chocolate, spices, and dried fruit. Delicato, a 100% Arabica offering, provides a refined taste with fruity and almond notes and a medium roast. Intenso is a robust blend of Arabica and Robusta, offering a balance of sweet and bitter flavors with hints of chocolate, spices, and vanilla. The Decaffeinato blend uses decaffeinated Arabica and Robusta beans, delivering notes of dried fruit, and cocoa.
Essse Caffè’s proprietary Essse.ID technology ensures the exclusive use of original pods, maintaining consistent quality standards. The machine’s design prioritizes sustainability through the exclusive use of compostable paper pods, simplifying disposal.
Essse Caffè, with over 45 years of experience in coffee selection and brewing systems, intends Sofia to offer a simple yet sophisticated coffee experience, according to the company.
