Equity Bancshares Reports Q3 EPS of $1.29 and Strong Loan Growth Amid Lincoln Acquisition Plans
Equity Bankshares reported a third-quarter net income of $26.8 million and diluted earnings per share of $1.29 during its October 15 conference call, choicestock.co.kr reported, as organic loan growth accelerated even as margin pressures mounted.
Loan Growth Accelerates Across Core Markets
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brad Elliot pointed to organic growth as the primary driver behind the quarter. Pre-provision net revenue reached $36.9 million, marking the highest level recorded since the company’s multi-firm merger. Core return on tangible common equity hit 16.5%, while the efficiency ratio stood at 54%.
New loan originations climbed to $379 million at an average yield of 6.9%. That figure represents a 20% jump from the previous quarter and a 56% increase compared to the same period a year prior. Total loans rose by $39 million to $5.44 billion. The expansion was aided by the addition of 13 commercial bankers in markets including Oklahoma City and Omaha.
Margin Compression Offsets Gains in Lending Activity
While lending activity expanded at an annualized rate approaching 12%, profitability metrics faced headwinds. Core net income remained flat compared to the previous quarter at $29 million, or $1.40 per share, as margin compression offset volume gains. The net interest margin fell 16 basis points to 4.2%. Chief Financial Officer Chris Navratil attributed roughly 7 basis points of that decline to excess liquidity, noting that normalized margins would rest at 4.27%.
Deposits contracted by $1억3600만 달러, or 2.2%, to settle at $6.17 billion. The share of noninterest-bearing deposits slipped to 18.7% from 20.2% in the first quarter. Management noted that excluding price-sensitive public funds affected by seasonal payment cycles, core market deposits remained flat.

Lincoln Bancorp Acquisition Pushes Assets to $9.1 Billion
The pending acquisition of Lincoln Bancorp remains on track to close by the end of the fourth quarter. Operating across Iowa with 16 branches, Lincoln Savings Bank will push combined assets to approximately $9.1 billion following the integration scheduled for the second quarter of 2027. Management confirmed no branch closures are planned.
The transaction will alter capital ratios. The tangible common equity ratio is projected to shift from 9.1% down to roughly 8.5% upon closing, while the total risk-based capital ratio moves from 14.94% to approximately 13.4%. Share repurchases remain paused due to regulatory filing constraints tied to the transaction.
Management Projects Net Interest Margin Between 4.25% and 4.35%
For the upcoming quarter, management projects a net interest margin between 4.25~4.35% before accounting for the Lincoln integration. Noninterest income is expected to range from $10 million to $11 million, with noninterest expenses targeted between $47 million and $48 million. Cumulative core EPS for the year stands at $4.14, leaving executives confident in reaching the $5 annual target once the Lincoln contribution is added.
