Enter Shikari Announce Hiatus Starting End of 2027
British rock band Enter Shikari have announced they will go on an indefinite hiatus at the end of 2027, stating that they will fall dormant as a recording and performing entity
on December 31, 2027. The St Albans group, formed in 1999 as Hybryd by primary school friends, confirmed that they do not currently have a diary extending beyond 2027 and do not know if the break will lead to a return or permanent extinction.
In a joint statement issued by band members Rou Reynolds, Rob Rolfe, Rory Clewlow and Chris Batten, the group explained that two decades of constant output have taken a toll on their mental health and personal capacities. The decision follows internal discussions regarding the pressures of the music industry, changing priorities, outside responsibilities, and recent illness experienced by frontman Rou Reynolds.
Enter Shikari Schedules Dates Before 2027 Hiatus
Despite the upcoming hiatus, Enter Shikari stated they will not be organizing a farewell world tour. However, the group has scheduled UK, European, and North American dates, alongside US shows in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee, while hoping to visit some favorite places one last time
before the end of 2027. The upcoming schedule also marks significant anniversaries for the band, including 20 years since their debut album Take To The Skies
, alongside milestones for A Flash Flood Of Colour
and The Spark
.
Band Promises New Music Despite Uncertain Future
While the members stressed they do not view the move as a formal break-up—comparing potential future activity to bands like Fugazi—they admitted uncertainty over what lies ahead. Fans can still expect new music sooner rather than later,
alongside another project the band recently finished filming and a revisiting of original multitracks from their debut record. Enter Shikari closed their message by thanking supporters for two decades of support, your sweat, your passion, your energy.
