Wales Manager Bellamy Calls for ‘Full Gas’ Approach in England Friendly,Highlights Need for Competitive Intensity
Cardiff,Wales – Wales manager Robert Bellamy has stated a friendly match against England will only be worthwhile if his team performs at their absolute peak, suggesting a contest at anything less than full intensity would be akin to a boxing match deemed unsafe by regulators. The fixture, secured with the assistance of the Football Association’s technical director John McDermott, is intended to provide Wales with a crucial test against higher-ranked opposition.
Bellamy emphasized the necessity of consistently operating at maximum effort, stating, “We just can’t compete with these teams if we are not full gas. For us,it’s like, great, let’s try to be full gas all the time so that we only live with full gas.” Wales have been allocated approximately 7,500 tickets for the match.
The squad has undergone recent changes due to injury. Rubin Colwill has been added, joining his brother Joel, replacing the injured Aaron Ramsey, who hasn’t featured for Wales since September 2024 and recently signed with Pumas UNAM in Mexico City.Isaak Davies of Cardiff has taken the place of Daniel James, who suffered an ankle injury during Leeds training.
