Energy Boosting Skincare: Treatment Review & Controversy
Clarins has launched Extra-Firming Energy, a new skincare treatment designed to revitalize and tone skin, according to a report published by Mediaset Infinity on March 13, 2026. The product aims to address the effects of seasonal changes and fatigue on the complexion.
The treatment is intended to act as an “immediate energy booster” for the face, countering the dullness and loss of tone that can occur during colder months and with reduced sunlight exposure, the report states. Clarins developed the product after research into what the company calls the “five key indicators of cutaneous energy.” These indicators include skin relaxation, nasolabial wrinkles, forehead wrinkles, radial wrinkles, and loss of facial oval fullness – all linked to collagen loss.
According to the report, Clarins laboratories have developed a protocol to measure the perceived energy of the face through these five indicators. The company’s research suggests that stress and demanding schedules can visibly impact the skin, diminishing its natural radiance.
The launch of Extra-Firming Energy comes as the skincare industry increasingly focuses on products designed to address immediate concerns and provide customizable solutions. According to a guide published by Beautiful With Brains in August 2025, “skincare boosters” are gaining popularity for their ability to address specific skin issues, such as dryness, sensitivity, and hormonal fluctuations. The guide notes that these boosters allow users to tailor their routines to address “emergencies” and customize their skincare regimens.
The Beautiful With Brains article highlights several boosters currently available, including Clinique’s Fresh Pressed Daily Booster with Pure Vitamin C 10% ($90.00), Dr Dennis Gross’s Hyaluronic Marine Hydration Booster ($72.00), and Paula’s Choice’s Resist 1% Retinol Booster ($55.00). Paula’s Choice also offers a 10% Niacinamide Booster ($42.00) specifically formulated for sensitive skin.
Furtuna Skin offers a dual-use face and eye serum, Porte Per La Vitalità, which blends wild-foraged botanicals from an organic Sicilian farm. The serum is priced at $105.00 for 15ml. Dermalogica also offers a range of professional-grade skincare products designed for various skin types and concerns.
