Employers in Action: Coalition Insights
Oklahoma employers are preparing for a day at the State Capitol on April 27th, as part of an ongoing effort to influence policy decisions impacting their businesses. The event, organized by Employers in Action (EIA), a coalition led by The State Chamber of Oklahoma, will allow attendees to meet with elected officials and discuss issues affecting the state’s business community.
The coalition, comprised of HR and employment professionals, has been actively engaging with policymakers, particularly regarding concerns over rising healthcare costs and potential minimum wage increases. According to a report published February 19, 2026, by Dr. Jennifer Chen, the initiative recognizes a growing need for employer involvement in shaping health-related policies and ensuring legislation is informed by practical considerations.
Employers in Action hosted a series of events throughout 2024, providing opportunities for business leaders to connect with elected officials. While the 2024 program series has concluded, the coalition is planning a similar program for the fall of 2025, and is currently seeking hosts for luncheons in various parts of the state. Erin Hennessy, at The State Chamber, is the point of contact for potential luncheon hosts.
The State Chamber of Oklahoma, representing over 650 members and 270,000 employees, serves as a key advocate for businesses across the state. The coalition emphasizes the importance of bringing real-world experience to the policy-making process, aiming to avoid unintended consequences from legislation. Registration for the 2026 Day at the Capitol is scheduled to open soon, offering attendees a chance to discuss top issues with Oklahoma leaders and legislators.
The coalition’s efforts are part of a broader movement to increase employer involvement in state-level policy decisions. The Oklahoma State Chamber notes that the demand for this involvement is “needed now more than ever,” as issues impacting businesses continue to gain attention each year.
