Los angeles, CA – This year’s Emmy Awards are about to get a little more… concise. Host Nate bargatze has announced a unique incentive for winners: keep your acceptance speeches brief, or he’ll donate less to charity.
The comedian, estimated to be worth over $56 million, has pledged $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a US volunteering charity, provided winners adhere to a strict 45-second time limit for their thank yous.
Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Bargatze explained the system: “Everybody gets 45 seconds to do all the thank yous. So what I came up with is I’m going to donate $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Club… that’s what the show’s starting at. When everybody uses their 45 seconds, if someone goes over, we take away $1,000 a second every time they go over.”
