Eminem defends collaborating with Kid Rock despite political divide
A Forty-Year Alliance on Wax
Eminem has defended his new collaboration with Kid Rock on the track “Heal My Faith,” addressing a decades-long friendship despite stark political differences.
The collaboration appears on Kid Rock’s new Christian album, Halfway 2 Jesus. In his verse, Eminem raps, “From shock rap to the rock rap, my homie and me / He is my brother, not my political enemy.”
The Social Media Defence
Addressing the partnership in a social media post, Eminem wrote, “Not about choosing sides, just choosing to make music with my old friend.” “Praying for all of us,” Eminem wrote.

Managing Political Divides
The two musicians have maintained a friendship spanning roughly forty years. In an interview with Billboard, Kid Rock said about Eminem, “We’ve been friends for, like, 40 years.” In an interview with Billboard, Kid Rock noted that he did not want to drag Eminem into his political world, acknowledging that while they disagree on some subjects, they share enough common ground to maintain their relationship. Kid Rock added that they talk about politics a little bit and not a ton, noting there is a lot of stuff they agree on and they can have a laugh about what they do not agree on, which is why he asked Eminem to write a verse for him.
Kid Rock is an avid MAGA supporter, while Eminem has been a vocal critic of Trump. Their professional history includes previous collaborations, notably Eminem featuring on Kid Rock’s 1998 song “Fuck Off” from the album Devil Without A Cause, as well as Kid Rock appearing in Eminem’s 2013 music video for “Berzerk.”
