Emilia Mernes: Feud with Tini Stoessel & WAGs’ Disapproval After World Cup Party

A wave of unfollows on Instagram has embroiled Argentine singer Emilia Mernes in a growing scandal, fueled by speculation of a fractured friendship with fellow artist Tini Stoessel. The dispute, simmering for weeks, escalated after followers noticed Stoessel removed Mernes from her Instagram following list, sparking intense scrutiny from fans.

The situation quickly broadened beyond the two singers, with reports emerging that Antonela Roccuzzo, wife of soccer star Lionel Messi, also unfollowed Mernes. Argentine journalist Yanina Latorre reported that the action stemmed from a dinner attended by Messi, Stoessel, and soccer player Rodrigo de Paul. According to Latorre, the wives and partners of the Argentinian national soccer team, known as “La Scaloneta,” harbor resentment towards Mernes.

Latorre detailed that the animosity dates back to celebrations following Argentina’s victory in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. “When the players become champions, a party is held with them, their families, the women… a family party,” Latorre stated on her program. She alleged that Mernes’s presence and demeanor at one such celebration were perceived negatively by the wives of the players. “Emilia Mernes showed up. The women of the Selection didn’t like her attitude, or her look in that place. They all found it dubious and as if she didn’t have a family attitude,” Latorre claimed.

Latorre described Mernes’s “provocative” appearance and behavior as unwelcome during the family-oriented celebration. “They are all hugging, singing, shouting, and suddenly a goddess enters with those outfits she wears. And of course, it wasn’t liked,” she added.

The unfollows follow a pattern of distancing within the Argentine pop scene. Earlier in March 2026, Tini Stoessel also ceased following singer María Becerra on Instagram, adding to speculation of broader tensions among prominent female artists.

As of Friday, March 20, 2026, neither Mernes nor Stoessel have publicly addressed the unfollows or the allegations circulating on social media and in Argentine media outlets. Roccuzzo has also remained silent on the matter.
