Emerging NZ Band Sandfly Releases Single ‘Long Way From Home’ – Muzic.NZ

NZ rock trio Sandfly have released their debut self-titled album’s teaser single, “Long Way From Home,”⁣ marking a notable step forward for the band after⁣ years of building a following. The‍ single offers a taste of the “home-brewed sound” featured on ⁣the upcoming album.

“Long Way From Home” tells‌ the story of a boy lost and unwelcome in a strange place,a narrative representative of the interconnected themes and lyrical depth woven throughout the full album. Sandfly aims to deliver more than just a collection of songs; they envision the album as an immersive experience for ⁤listeners.

the album’s inspiration draws from a diverse range‍ of ideas, spanning psychedelic⁤ concepts to more grounded themes. Tracks like “Let Me Drive My Car” and “T.G.S.” showcase the band’s versatility across different genres.

Notably,Sandfly was entirely recorded, mixed, and mastered by the band members themselves.‌ Drummer‍ Jack Colley explains, ”We wanted to show everyone that if you ⁢put your mind and soul into the ‌music‍ that you have created, you can capture the exact feeling you’re after.” He believes the DIY approach is integral to the album’s unique⁢ character, stating, “I think the home-brewed sound we have created doesn’t take away from the music, in fact I strongly‌ believe the album would not have the same feel if we hadn’t done these creation processes ourselves.”

Sandfly’s ‍talent is‍ built‍ on a foundation of live performance experience, having played numerous shows in competitions and⁢ as a ⁢headline act across the country. The band plans to elevate their‍ live show this year, aiming for larger venues and a more polished presentation.”With our album finally making it to the limelight and the chance to play to thousands at‍ the end of this year, I think we’re all ‌ready to take our musical journey to new heights,” says guitarist Thomas Brooks.
