Elon Students Test Homecoming Court Knowlege at Inaugural Phoenix Feud
ELON, N.C. – Elon University’s One Phoenix committee hosted its first annual Phoenix Feud trivia night on Oct. 7 in the McBride Gathering Space, aiming to connect students with this year’s Homecoming Court candidates. The event, inspired by a former Elon tradition discovered in university archives, drew students for an evening of homecoming-themed trivia adn candidate interaction.
The Phoenix Feud was conceived as a way to address a common issue: student unfamiliarity with Homecoming Court nominees. Olivia Glover, a 2028 class senator and One Phoenix co-chair, explained she “had no idea who was on the ballot besides one person” and hoped the event would empower students to make informed choices before voting closes on Oct. 10. The committee collaborated with Elon Student Involvement to revive the trivia night concept, providing a relaxed setting for students to learn about the candidates’ platforms and personalities.
During the event, teams competed in three rounds of trivia, with Anjolina Fantaroni and Fiona McAllister emerging as the top winners, correctly answering questions in two of the three rounds. Fantaroni also secured a win in the final Kahoot challenge. Both Fantaroni and McAllister currently hold leadership positions within Elon News Network.
Glover expressed satisfaction with the event’s turnout and hopes the tradition will continue. “A lot of the freshmen on the committee were here tonight and they had a great time with it, so hopefully one of them is inspired to do it again,” she said.students can currently cast their votes for Homecoming Court via Phoenix Connect.
