Musk Launches America Party After Trump Spat

Following a public dispute with former ally **Donald Trump**, **Elon Musk** has announced the formation of a new political party. The move could shake up American politics.

New Party Announced on X

**Musk** declared the creation of the America Party on his social media platform, X. He presented it as an alternative to the established Republican and Democratic parties.

As of this writing, it remains uncertain if the America Party has been officially registered with U.S. election authorities. Details regarding its leadership and structure have yet to be disclosed by **Musk**.

Feud with Trump Sparks Party Idea

The concept of launching a new party initially emerged during **Musk’s** recent conflict with **Trump**. Their disagreement led to **Musk’s** departure from his role in the administration. The feud became quite public.

Before announcing the party, **Musk** conducted a poll on X, asking users whether a new political party should be established in the U.S. Public opinion seems to be in favor of a third option. Currently, nearly half of Americans believe neither the Democratic nor Republican party represents their interests (Gallup 2024).

From Ally to Critic

**Musk** had been a prominent supporter of **Trump** during the 2024 election, reportedly investing $250 million to support his campaign. Following the election, he was appointed to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), tasked with identifying areas for federal budget reduction.

The relationship soured after **Musk** left his position in May and voiced opposition to **Trump’s** tax and spending proposals. The legislation, touted by **Trump** as his “big, beautiful bill,” was recently approved by Congress and enacted into law.

The new law entails substantial spending commitments and tax cuts, projected to increase the U.S. deficit by over $3 trillion over the next decade.
