Egyptian Actors’ Syndicate sues user for manipulating Dina El Sherbiny image
Egyptian actress Dina El Sherbiny faced a wave of online criticism after a fabricated image depicted her wearing a hijab and performing prayers alongside a black dress she wore at the El Gouna Film Festival, prompting the Egyptian Actors’ Syndicate to take legal action against the individual responsible for the digital manipulation.
Syndicate Action Against Artificial Intelligence Manipulation
The controversy ignited when manipulated images surfaced across social media platforms, showing the actress in scenes that never occurred during her appearance at the festival.
Coverage highlights a growing pattern of digital exploitation targeting public figures through generative artificial intelligence. Syndicate head Ashraf Zaki stated in press remarks that the organization initiated legal measures against a social media user who fabricated the images in an attempt to tarnish her image in order to increase engagement on his page, stressing that there is no tolerance for anyone attempting to damage the reputation of Egyptian artists. Zaki also noted that the syndicate’s handling of manipulated images has become a vital part of defending its members, citing public instances in 2025 and 2026 involving the legal defense of figures such as Adel Emam—regarding his appearance on a hospital bed in 2025—and Mona Zaki against abusive digital fabrications.

Recent Public Appearances in El Gouna
Before the emergence of the fabricated images, El Sherbiny’s public schedule included high-profile appearances at coastal events. Her most recent public sighting took place at a major concert hosted by singer Amr Diab in El Gouna, which drew substantial crowds and prominent industry figures, including Yousra, Sherina Reda, and Hena Shiha.
Legal authorities and syndicate representatives have not yet disclosed the specific court dates or formal charges pending against the individual identified in the ongoing investigation into the digital forgery.
