Eggs Offer Potential Ally in Prostate Cancer Prevention, Nutritionist Says
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – beyond its role as a staple in Brazilian cuisine, the egg is gaining recognition as a potential aid in prostate cancer prevention, thanks to its rich nutrient profile and high protein content. While awareness campaigns like “Blue November” focus attention on the disease, experts emphasize the importance of consistent preventative measures.
The egg’s benefits extend to athletic performance and recovery, according to nutritionist Carolina Lara. She highlights the presence of albumin, a high-biological-value protein, which aids in muscle tissue repair, prevents blood sugar drops, and combats muscle loss.
“It provides essential amino acids for the body. It prevents rebound hypoglycemia (a sudden drop in blood sugar that greatly reduces performance). And it prevents muscle catabolism that generates the loss of muscle tissue,” Lara explained.
For runners, eggs offer an immune system boost through their zinc content, helping to ward off illnesses that can disrupt training.Iron and folic acid within eggs also contribute to muscle oxygenation, preventing anemia and enhancing athletic performance, Lara added.
The growing recognition of the egg’s health benefits comes after a period of undeserved criticism, positioning it as a key ingredient for those focused on muscle gain and overall wellness.
