Mentor, OH – August 16, 2025 – Dr. Edward “Ed” Marvin White, a respected dentist, devoted family man, and cherished member of both Northeast Ohio and Southwest Florida communities, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, in Mentor, Ohio, at the age of 95.
Dr. White lived a full and vibrant life, marked by a genuine warmth and a dedication to serving others. Known for his welcoming smile and engaging storytelling, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness and community involvement.
Born September 24, 1929, in jefferson, Ohio, to Dr. Ross White and Marjorie Marvin White, Ed cultivated a strong sense of integrity and a love for connection from a young age.He pursued his passion for dentistry at case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine after attending Bowling Green University. Following a period of service in the Navy in California, he established a dental practice in Painesville, Ohio, in 1953, after marrying his first wife, Sarah “Sally” Lamade.
In 1969, Dr. White co-founded the Painesville Dental Group with Dr. Jerry Patriarca, a practice that continues to thrive today, a testament to his professional dedication and skill.He served as President of the Ohio Dental association in 1984 and was honored with the Distinguished Dentist Award in 1989, recognizing his contributions to the field.
Following Sally’s passing after a valiant battle with cancer, Ed found love again with Vicky Pozar in 1991. Together, they enjoyed over 30 years of companionship, splitting their time between Ohio and Marco island, Florida, before settling in Fort Myers, Florida in 2005.
A passionate golfer, Dr. White was a fixture at Madison Country Club and later Pelican preserve, often playing several rounds a week. However, his greatest joy came from fostering friendships and connecting with those around him. He possessed a rare ability to make everyone feel valued and heard.
Dr. White is survived by his wife, Vicky White of Mentor, OH; his daughter, Dr. Gail White of Aurora, OH; his son George (Brenda Caranci) White of Littleton, CO; four grandchildren: Justin White of Port Charlotte, FL; Allison (Jacob) Hamblen of Vancouver, WA; David (Faith) White of Westminster, CO; and Katerina Vasilko of Parma, OH; one great-grandson, Leroy White, of Westminster, CO; and sister in law Arlene (Ronald) Toivonen. He was preceded in death by his first wife sally White (1988); his son Doug White (2022), his grandson Ed White (2024), and his daughter-in-law michele White (2025).
In his own words, Dr. White expressed gratitude for the countless individuals who enriched his life.His family requests that those wishing to honor his memory do so by remembering their own cherished moments with him - perhaps raising a glass,planting a flower,or even playfully hitting a golf ball into the water,a nod to his spirited play.
