SEATTLE, WA – Amazon Web services (AWS) has expanded the availability of its high-performance Amazon EC2 I8g instances to the Asia Pacific (Seoul) and South America (Sao paulo) regions. These storage-optimized instances are designed for demanding workloads requiring rapid data access and low latency.
I8g instances leverage the latest third-generation AWS Nitro SSDs, providing up to 65% better real-time storage performance per terabyte, alongside up to 50% lower storage I/O latency and 60% lower storage I/O latency variability. Built on the AWS Nitro System, the instances offload CPU virtualization, storage, and networking functions to dedicated hardware and software, enhancing performance and security.
These instances are ideal for I/O intensive applications including transactional and real-time distributed databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, Hbase, and NoSQL solutions like Aerospike, MongoDB, ClickHouse, and Apache Druid. They also support real-time analytics platforms like Apache Spark, data lakehouses, and AI/LLM pre-processing for training.I8g instances are offered in 10 sizes, up to 48xlarge-including a metal size-with up to 1.5 TiB of memory and 45 TB of local instance storage. They deliver up to 100 Gbps of network bandwidth and 60 Gbps of dedicated bandwidth for Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS).
More information on Amazon EC2 I8g instances can be found here. Resources for adopting AWS Graviton are available on the Level up your compute with AWS graviton page. Users can get started via the AWS Management Console, AWS Command Line Interface (AWS CLI), and AWS SDKs.
