EC-KAC Falls Short in Salzburg Despite Strong Start
The EC-KAC suffered a defeat against Salzburg despite a promising offensive start. The game saw numerous scoring chances for Klagenfurt, including a shot by Jordan Murray that hit the body of the Salzburg goalie (20th) and a goal initially awarded to Mario Kempe, later disallowed due to offside (29th).
Salzburg’s Atte Tolvanen proved resilient in net, denying attempts from Lucas Thaler (18th) and Jan Muršak (31st). Sebastian Dahm, the KAC’s goaltender, also faced pressure, saving during a Salzburg “two-on-one” (20th) and a breakaway from Travis St. Denis (33rd).
Klagenfurt finally broke through in the 43rd minute, with a goal credited to Nick Petersen after a deflection off Stephens’ helmet during a strong forecheck by David Waschnig. However, Salzburg responded with goals from Devante Stephens (58th) and Connor Corcoran (59th – empty net) to secure the win. A late attempt by Thomas Hundespfund during a powerplay was also stopped by tolvanen (59th).
