Eastern Arab Orchestra Revives Sabah’s Legacy with Academic Vision | Lebanon News

February 17, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

The National Oriental Orchestra of Lebanon, in collaboration with the Al-Ahliya School choir, presented a musical event at the First Evangelical Armenian Church in Beirut on February 16, 2026, dedicated to the legacy of the iconic singer Sabah.

The performance, described as an exceptional musical event combining academic skill and artistic memory, aimed to revive Sabah’s repertoire with a scholarly approach. The event was titled “Ishraqat Al-Naghm” (Radiance of Melodies), according to a report by LBCI Lebanon.

Musician and trainer Tariq Qaterji discussed the details of the performance during an appearance on the Al-Jadeed channel’s “Sabah Al-Youm” program with journalist Lourka Sbeiti. The orchestra’s initiative seeks to honor Sabah’s contributions to Arabic music through a contemporary interpretation.

The National Oriental Orchestra’s revival of Sabah’s work follows a period of national challenges in Lebanon, including the collapse of buildings in Tripoli earlier this month, which some observers have described as symbolic of a broader state failure. However, the focus of this event remains firmly on celebrating the artistic legacy of Sabah.
