Dying Light: The Beast – Major Update & Final Edition Revealed
Techland will release a major update for Dying Light: The Beast on March 26, introducing the “Restored Land” expansion, a new gameplay mode designed to offer a persistent and challenging survival experience. The update will be available free of charge to existing players of Dying Light: The Beast.
Restored Land fundamentally alters the game’s core mechanics by eliminating enemy and loot respawning, creating a persistent world where actions have lasting consequences. As players eliminate zombies in designated areas, the map gradually reverts to its pre-apocalyptic state, repopulating with non-zombified human characters, according to Techland.
For players seeking an even greater challenge, an optional “One Life” mode has been implemented. Activating this feature results in permanent save file deletion upon player death, forcing a complete restart. The update also introduces “Roadkill Rallies,” competitive vehicular challenges requiring players to eliminate infected and reach a destination within a time limit.
Beyond the core Restored Land features, Techland has promised additional enhancements, including improvements to lighting, performance, and the introduction of new finishing moves and random events. The developer characterized the update as a significant event with the potential to revitalize the game.
To coincide with the update, Techland will release a new edition of the game, titled Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land Edition. This edition will include the base game, all previously released post-launch content, and the new Restored Land expansion. The Restored Land Edition is also available at no extra charge to owners of the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2 Stay Human.
The release of Dying Light: The Beast marks the return of Kyle Crane, the protagonist from the original Dying Light and its expansion, The Following. Techland initially revealed the game at Gamescom Opening Night Live.
