Ducks GM Pat Verbeek Discusses Mason McTavish Extension and Camp Evaluations

Anaheim Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek addressed the media,⁢ focusing ⁢on⁢ the‍ recent contract extension for Mason McTavish and evaluations⁢ of players in training camp. He also touched on potential trade deadline flexibility and the‍ impact of the new playoff cap situation.

Verbeek confirmed the McTavish extension represents a “fair deal” for both sides, aligning with⁢ “fair market value” for a player of McTavish’s caliber. He ⁢declined to reveal specific comparable contracts used⁤ during negotiations. the extension includes full no-trade clauses in both ​of the final two years of the deal.

Concerning McTavish’s arrival from practicing with the Ottawa 67s, Verbeek plans to ‍ease him into camp over the first three days to assess his conditioning ‍and adjustment to the NHL ⁤pace. He intends to have ​McTavish participate in the final‌ exhibition ⁤game and several practices before the season opener in Seattle, believing ⁢the timing is optimal for ​his integration.
