Dua Lipa Honors Shakira with Surprise Performance in bogotá
During her November 28th concert at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín Stadium in Bogotá, Dua Lipa delivered a memorable moment by paying tribute to Shakira.Midway through her performance, the British-Albanian singer paused her set to address the audience in Spanish.
With dimmed stage lights and images projected on the venue’s screens, Lipa explained the significance of the upcoming song. “Today I want to sing a song that I don’t sing very much, but it’s by an artist that inspires me a lot. His music, through time and the way it has touched so many minds and hearts around the world…” she said, prompting an eager reaction from the crowd recognizing the reference to the Barranquilla-born star.
Lipa, who has previously expressed her recognition for Latin music, then requested the audience’s participation, acknowledging the song’s importance to the local culture.”I think you all can definitely help me sing the next song.If you know it, this is for you,” she added before the opening guitar chords rang out.
The song she chose was “Antología,” a ballad from Shakira’s debut album, pies Descalzos. This selection resonated deeply with the Bogotá audience. In contrast to the show’s more elaborate, electronic segments, the acoustic performance allowed attendees to sing along with Lipa, who performed the spanish lyrics while seated at the microphone.
The gesture was widely interpreted as a sign of respect for Colombian culture and for Shakira’s enduring legacy as a national icon. While Lipa continued with her regular setlist after the tribute, the moment dedicated to Shakira proved to be the highlight of the concert, fostering a strong connection between the artist and her Bogotá fans.
