DTE Invests in Michigan‘s Natural Gas Infrastructure,Supporting 1.3 Million Customers

Romulus, MI – DTE Energy continues its meaningful investment in Michigan’s natural gas infrastructure with a network of 19 service stations strategically positioned across the state, ensuring reliable 24/7 service to over 1.3 million customers. This commitment underscores DTE’s role in powering homes and businesses throughout southeast, west, northern Michigan, and the Upper Peninsula.

Beyond simply delivering natural gas,DTE’s network functions as a critical hub for community support and safety initiatives. While most customers won’t directly visit these facilities, thay are integral to the reliable energy delivery michiganders depend on.

Unlike gasoline stations where consumers “fill up,” DTE’s service stations provide the flow of natural gas to consumers. Five stations are located in southeast Michigan, with an additional fourteen spread across west michigan, northern Michigan, and the Upper Peninsula. Specific locations include facilities in cities like Muskegon,Romulus, and areas serving the Traverse City region.

However, the infrastructure extends beyond these core service stations. DTE also operates a Gas Renewal Program center, two construction locations, two gas compressor stations, and several satellite stations supporting gas transmission.A dedicated gas training center ensures a skilled workforce, while specialized “locator” teams, stationed at these facilities, actively participate in the MISS DIG 811 program. This program is vital for safely marking underground utility lines before any digging or excavation projects, preventing accidental damage and ensuring public safety.

Recently, DTE workers at the Muskegon Station volunteered their time to cook and raise funds for local families in need during the holiday season, demonstrating the company’s commitment to community engagement.

These stations serve as “home bases” for thousands of DTE team members who live and work within the communities they serve. Many are actively involved in local activities, from coaching youth sports to volunteering, reinforcing DTE’s position as a deeply rooted part of the Michigan landscape. DTE’s ongoing investment in this infrastructure is crucial for maintaining energy reliability and supporting Michigan’s economic growth.
