Drugstore Hair Loss Routine: Strengthen Hair for Spring

Seasonal hair loss is prompting a surge in demand for new drugstore treatments, with Pantene Pro-V launching a “Grow Abundant” line aimed at reducing shedding by up to 90 percent in eight weeks, according to the company.

The increase in hair loss is often linked to the transition from winter to spring, with factors like dry heating and wearing hats contributing to the problem, experts say. While not always indicative of permanent hair loss, the seasonal shedding can be noticeable, leading consumers to seek preventative measures.

Pantene’s new collection includes a serum, shampoo, and conditioner designed to strengthen hair from root to tip and protect against oxidative stress. The Grow Abundant Serum, intended for daily use on dry or wet scalp, contains Pro-Vitamin B5 and Niacinamide, ingredients aimed at bolstering hair anchoring and protecting against free radicals. The company recommends massaging the serum into the scalp, potentially with a massage brush to stimulate blood flow.

The shampoo and conditioner are formulated to gently cleanse and fortify hair, improving its resilience to external stressors. The regimen is intended to address thinning hair and seasonal hair loss specifically.

Alongside Pantene’s offering, Plantur 39 Kopfhaut-Serum, available in drugstores, is also gaining attention for its potential to slow hair loss. This serum utilizes Dimethylglycin (DMG) to improve scalp microcirculation, enhancing nutrient delivery to hair roots. It also contains caffeine to stimulate hair follicles, Zinc PCA to regulate sebum production, Niacinamide to strengthen the skin barrier, and Panthenol to provide moisture and support scalp regeneration.

The growing awareness of hair loss solutions comes as men, in particular, are experiencing thinning hair and receding hairlines, often seeking early intervention to address the issue.
