Animation festival to Spotlight Chomet, Pagnol Homage & New Previews
Dives-sur-Mer, France – The 19th annual Drakkar’Toon festival will bring a program of fourteen films-including previews-to the Le Drakkar cinema in Dives-sur-Mer from October 20 to 31. This year’s event features a tribute to French filmmaker Marcel Pagnol with the new animated feature Marcel and Mr. Pagnol by Sylvain Chomet, known for The Illusionist.
The festival offers a diverse lineup for animation enthusiasts of all ages, providing a platform for both established and emerging talent. Beyond the flagship films, attendees can look forward to a preview of Tales from the apple tree and an animation inspired by Mary Anning, developed in collaboration with the PaléoSpace of Villers-sur-Mer. Children’s workshops and afternoon snacks will also be available.
Chomet’s Marcel and Mr. Pagnol is described as “a vibrant portrait of a great figure in French culture, where animation mirrors our collective memory.” A trailer for the film is available online.
