Drake football defeats Davidson 30-22 to extend winning streak to two
Drake football defeated Davidson 30-22 on October 3 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, improving its Pioneer Football League record to 2-0 and extending its winning streak to two games after opening the season with three losses.
Des Moines Homecoming Victory Over Davidson
Drake coach Matt Walker pointed to the team’s bye week preparation following the early losses.
“It feels pretty sweet (to win) in front of the home crowd,” Matt Walker said. “We talked all bye week about using our pain and turning it into our power. You’re really seeing that development now.”
Davidson presented a stiff challenge throughout the afternoon.
“Dayton has a good football team, good quarterback and skill players, and we knew it would be a battle,” Matt Walker said. “Whoever was able to find that extra gear at the end was going to win it today, and it happened exactly like that.”
