Philippines‘ New Public Works Secretary Orders Mass Resignations Amid corruption Allegations
Manila, Philippines – In a sweeping move to address widespread allegations of corruption and “ghost projects,” newly appointed Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon announced Monday he is requesting courtesy resignations from all levels of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). the order, impacting over 400 personnel, signals a firm commitment from the Marcos administration to overhaul the agency and restore public trust.
Dizon, speaking at a press conference in Malacañang, stated the request for resignations will extend “top to bottom” - encompassing undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, division heads, regional directors, and district engineers. This dramatic action follows mounting scrutiny of the DPWH, with accusations of bribery and the funding of non-existent infrastructure projects dominating recent headlines.
“The order of the President is to clean house, to cleanse the agency… a clean sweep – that is the order of the President,” Dizon emphasized, speaking in Filipino.
